For most people, 4 to 5 ounces of protein, 1/2 to 1 cup of whole grains and 1 cup of watery, fibrous vegetables at meals will prompt weight loss. For example, have grilled chicken with brown rice and green beans; eggs with peppers, spinach and whole-wheat toast; roast pork tenderloin with baked sweet potato and a green salad; or broiled tilapia with quinoa and asparagus. Skip sugary, fatty sauces and dressings. Flavor foods with herbs, spices, citrus juice and vinegar.
Your thoughts about finding a trainer actually echoes what I had started thinking. I only hesitate because of my work schedule. I put in 75 hours last week, which although a little heavier than usual, isn’t unheard of. Although never legally married, I consider myself a widower and as a single guy I do all the cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry etc. Plus I have two dogs that require my attention daily. So I’ve become a lot more of a homebody than I ever thought I would. The nearest reputable gym that I know of is about a 30 minute drive from my home, I just can’t commit to a 2 hour time requirement so I’ve been doing the best I can at home. I am thinking about doing a 1 month membership though, just to get the proper mentoring and training but just keep putting it off. Perhaps this winter when there is less outside work that needs done and I have a little more time on my hands. Thanks again for your response and advice.
Someone here recommended "the 17 day diet" so i decided to buy the book. i started 3 days ago and already lost 2 pounds. it is a great book and easy to follow. in the beginning of the month, i have already started to eat clean(veggies, fruits, chicken, lean beef and fish) and exercise 6 days a week for at least 45 minutes and 1 day rest. so i have lost a total of 10 pounds. it's hard work, because at times i feel like not eating healthy nor exercising but it's so rewarding and i feel so great...lots of energy.
Choosing an exercise and diet plan may seem harder than deciding on your reception venue. But as with any big decision, it just takes some narrowing of choices. Of course, whichever one you decide to follow, you'll want it to offer maximum energy and fun — both during and after your workouts and meals. Beyond that, use these factors as considerations when choosing the best program for you:

"My workouts are efficient, to the point, target problem areas, use all muscles all the time, and are sexy," expresses Winhoffer. "When I work out, I teach women to feel their bodies. That's how women become more beautiful ... When they are in touch with their deepest selves. Killer music, new moves, no stopping, cardio, and toning always." With notable clients including Madonna, Stella McCartney, and Mya, we'd say that Winhoffer's routines are definitely top-notch and effective!
In a way, moderate-intensity physical activity is that "magic pill" a lot of people are looking for, because the health benefits go beyond keeping your waistline trim: Not only can it reduce your risk of cancer, stroke, diabetes and heart attacks, but studies have shown that physical activity can significantly improve the moods of patients with major depressive disorders.

HMB—short for beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate—is a protein-related compound that encourages your muscles to use the macronutrient more efficiently, Bede explains. “Taking a HMB supplement can assist with muscle growth post 40,” she adds. Also consider a D-rich multivitamin. “Generally, men over 40 are deficient in vitamin C, Vitamin D, magnesium, B vitamins, and zinc,” says Kominiarek. Vitamin D is particularly important since it’s so crucial to both muscle and bone health, yet people tend to spend less time outside, exposed to sunlight after 40, Bede adds. It’s always better to score nutrients from real whole foods, but Kominiarek says supplementation is a must as we age.
About 34 percent of Americans surveyed who attempted to lose weight tried to do so by using weight loss supplements, reports an article published in Obesity in 2008. Thermogenic fat-burning supplements are one type of over-the-counter diet supplements available, but the evidence for their use isn't very strong. And, some potential side effects are associated with taking these supplements. Speak with your doctor before consuming any of these supplements to make sure they are safe for you.
"Before I got married, I remember thinking that I needed to lose 20 pounds. I even had a specific weight in mind: 165 pounds. According to my BMI, I needed to weigh that much. I joined Weight Watchers (again) and basically just watched what I ate. I didn't have a specific workout schedule, but I went on the treadmill sporadically. I did end up getting into the 160s, but I felt miserable at that time. I had it in my head that there were good foods and bad foods. If I went over my points for the week, I would feel guilty. If I gained a few pounds, I would feel guilty. It was a vicious cycle. After the wedding, I continued with Weight Watchers for a little while, but eventually got tired of tracking all of my food.
So, what is a fat burner? As explained in the journal Obesity Reviews, the term "fat burner" is used to describe "nutrition supplements that are claimed to acutely increase fat metabolism or energy expenditure, impair fat absorption, increase weight loss, increase fat oxidation during exercise, or somehow cause long-term adaptations that promote fat metabolism."[1] However, that's a wide range of functions, and in pill form especially, it can mean a lot of things! So, let's dig a little deeper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbz8yhJUF7M

3. Tabata: Tabata is another form of interval training and involves 8 rounds of 20 seconds exercise followed by 10 seconds rest. Sounds easy enough but exercise should be done at a high intensity. This exercise can be done using rowing machines, dumbbells or thrusters. This is a tough exercise and is best for those who have very less time in their hands.
Belly fat is, in fact, the colloquial term for abdominal fat. According to medical experts, belly fat can be potentially dangerous. Excess of it can lead to a number of health problems including heart diseases, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, a decrease in the level of HDL or good cholesterol, and can even lead to strokes or sleep apnea. You need to combat this problem before it gets too late.
And yet. When I got my wedding pictures back, I kind of hated them. I’d lost all this weight, but I still looked… squishy. My arms didn’t have the definition I’d seen in all the wedding ads, and my back still rolled over the top of my dress (I guess that’s what I get for refusing to acknowledge any gym equipment that won’t let me watch reruns of Saved by the Bell). And while I knew objectively that I looked beautiful on my wedding day, I still felt… disappointed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0HX4GZqXRA
Eating protein at breakfast is especially important. "The longest period of muscle breakdown occurs at night, when you're sleeping and not eating for hours at a time," explains Dr. Paddon-Jones. "If you skip breakfast or start your day with a protein-light meal—like a bagel, toast, or cereal—you're missing out on flipping that muscle-building switch back on."

I have been taking the lean protein shakes after workout for a week and I love the taste. I just ordered the fat burners and the bacaa… Can’t wait to get them in. I am 42 and need to lose 10-15 pounds. I just started back walking/running this week. I also do squats, jumping jacks , stairs, and weights with arms. I usually workout in the evening so I will drink the bacaa during workout and protein shake after. I usually don’t eat a big breakfast usually an apple with 2 boiled eggs minus the yokes. When should I take the fat burners?

Yohimbine: This ingredient, made from the bark of the yohimbe tree, is a popular stimulant in fat burners. It has been shown in a well-known study to produce significantly better fat loss results than a placebo among well-trained soccer players.[5] However, more research is definitely needed, and yohimbine isn't for everyone! If you're prone to anxiety or are very sensitive to stimulants, proceed with caution when it comes to yohimbine. Some people find it makes them very jittery or anxious.

In the eight months that elapsed between my engagement and my wedding day, I wound up sticking to my usual eating habits and exercise routine. I even forbid my mother from pulling the bodice of my dress in by an extra inch. Steak, champagne and creamy au gratin potatoes were on the wedding reception dinner menu, and I was going to need that extra inch of space to enjoy my meal that night.
6. Get support. It can be tough to stay strong and accountable to your goals if you don't have anyone else cheering you on. It can be even more difficult to do so when people are trying to sabotage your efforts, perhaps unknowingly. The best way to get support is to tell someone—anyone—about your weight and fitness goals and ask for their support. If you feel too uncomfortable to share those details with someone you know, the SparkPeople community is great for that. You can connect with people who have similar goals and get tips, motivation and your own personal cheerleading squad. Be sure to check out our brides-to-be SparkTeams as well because these women know exactly what you're going through.

Recently we spent a few days at Pennington with the researchers and the high-tech hardware they’re using to combat obesity. In addition to the metabolic ward, we visited Corby Martin, Ph.D., director of the center’s Ingestive Behavior, Weight Management & Health Promotion Lab, who is juggling scores of feeding studies investigating everything from how the pace of eating affects satiety to how group dynamics influence food choices at buffets.

"When we’re lacking in sleep, our body’s hormones get thrown off balance which can impact our hunger levels the next day. We all have two hormones that affect our appetite: ghrelin and leptin. When we don’t get enough sleep, our ghrelin levels (the hormone that makes us feel hungry) rise, and our leptin levels (the hormone that makes us feel full) drop. This means that when we’re awake, we tend to eat more but feel less satisfied. Try going to bed a little earlier than usual to avoid this imbalance and remember to remove any distractions that might prevent you from nodding off."

You already know to keep calories and fat in check, but you'll fan the flames of your metabolism by putting another nutrient on your radar: protein, the building block of lean muscle mass. Each time you eat a protein-rich food—say, a piece of fish or cheese—your body goes to work, breaking it down into smaller particles called amino acids. "The amino acids enter your bloodstream and are then absorbed by your muscle tissues and other cells," says Douglas Paddon-Jones, PhD, director of exercise studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch. "Once the amino acids end up in your muscles, your body starts putting them back together—sort of like Legos—into your muscle tissue." This is called muscle-protein synthesis, and it's the process your body uses to build and maintain muscle mass.
A 2014 Harvard study found that men who did twenty minutes of daily weight training had less of an increase in age-related abdominal fat compared with men who spent the same amount of time doing aerobic activities, and other studies have shown similar levels of success when guys hit the gym to cut down on fat. The implication: Guys can cut belly fat most efficiently with weight training.

She responded quickly and shared with me that her transformation came by working with Micah Lacerte at HitchFit and through hard work, exercise, strength training and diet. She was so enthusiastic, so happy and looked so amazing; I wanted to experience what she went through and share in her enthusiasm. I contacted Micah immediately and I started working out with him a few weeks later.
Easier weight loss over 40 could be as easy as peeling an orange. The results of a study published in the Journal of Clinical Biochemistry & Nutrition reveal that citrus polyphenols can help undo some of the damage caused by a high-fat diet, helping you ditch those extra pounds in no time. Better yet, research published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science reveals that the vitamin C found in citrus fruit can help boost your collagen production, helping you fight wrinkles, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep9j7YaTfMg
